Mazda Motability salesman called me yesterday to let me know that the new model was now back on the scheme and that the prices had just been released. Most have stayed the same.

      2018 Mazda CX-3 2.0 121ps 2WD SE-L Nav+ £0

      2018 Mazda CX-3 2.0 121ps 2WD SE-L Nav+ Auto £0

      2018 Mazda CX-3 2.0 121ps 2WD Sport Nav+ £299

      2018 Mazda CX-3 2.0 121ps 2WD Sport Nav+ Auto £499

      2018 Mazda CX-3 2.0 150ps AWD Sport Nav+ £549

      2018 Mazda CX-3 2.0 150ps AWD Sport Nav+ Auto £749

      2018 Mazda CX-3 1.8 115ps 2WD Sport Nav+ Diesel £1,999

Really well spec’d cars at affordable APs.

Only negative being that the new fuel economy figures across the range have (according to the Motability stats) dropped by quite a bit – another knock-on effect of wltp, which is a real pity.

Salesman quoted October deliveries if anyone is interested…

I think the MPG figures are going to be like that for everyone.

They used to say using the old system that the MPG published by the manufactures is about two thirds of the lab tests so for example, if they say it’s 60 MPG in real life it will be closer to being 40 MPG so it would be interesting to see if that old myth turns out to be correct.

I had the CX-3 Sport Nav on my previous short-list, Chris. So have the old official mpg figure for comparison:

          Old 48.7 mpg

          New  39.2 mpg

What you then have to factor in is that even the new official fuel figure will still be very much on the optimistic side.

The Equa figure for the old one was 35.8 mpg

Real world on the new one could well drop to sub 30.

Glad I ordered another car last week now 😀 The Clubman SD

It’s the same engine as before so the mpg figures you would get from driving it would be the same.

The new wltp test is just more “real world like” so the figure it produces is likely to be close to what you’d get driving it rather than  an overly optomistic  20 minutes of very controlled “simulated” driving on static rollers of the old NEDC test.

Same engine but it will now have a petrol particulate filter added to the system.

WLTP is a long overdue development and while it is miles (haha) better than the previous lies from car makers, it is still not ‘real world’.

We’ll need to wait a few months until actual real world figures appear on the likes of Equa, etc. Hopefully they will stay around the same.

Figures should be the same. The petrol engines are clean enough to not need a particulate filter.

Nearly all car makers are having to add particulate filters to all of their existing petrol engine range to comply with wltp and other new emission targets, Fred.

It varies by manufacturer to manufacturer.

I considered the petrol engine when I was ordering the cx 5 and Mazda skyactiv petrol engines are good enough to not require them same for the cx3.

This is good to know for the CX-3.
