I’d be interested to see if it suffers any UV degradation.
January 28, 2024 at 11:59 am #256539Im no electrician but
Thinking being it may help to reduce the chances of condensation affecting the internal circuit board ( something Easee had no concerns with as they do not have the same circuit board set up)
Sealing around wires or cables is a special headache all its own—gland nuts are specifically made to make a waterproof (or resistant, at least) pass-through for a cable, but they don’t necessarily prevent air slipping past, and air tends to carry water vapor with it.
Main objective was one of belt and braces

When you look at the Easse one its a brilliant design, in that the circuit board is covered, then theres a inner cover that gently slopes backwards at the top, preventing water getting in at the top entry points and the outer cover design allows water to run away. The charge socket is facing downwards along with a bottom cable entry point if desired. The 22kW are very popular in commercial settings.
As you say Ohme have what is essntially a bare circuit board within a box so can understand your concern albeit they are adequately protected. Did the installer run a small bead of silicone around the box.
I think somebody had the same idea and selling for £30. You could buy some bins and sell your own design which actually looks better lol.
January 28, 2024 at 12:44 pm #256541Man that other white one is ugly lol
Mine is probally not needed and may end up as simply being a bird perch
Why bother?
Simply using a recycled recyling bin lid for an EV cover had a nice ring to it lol
But these things come to mind and had to do it lol
Its was orginally grey but that looked so naff let alone white lol
January 28, 2024 at 2:34 pm #256548That’s sound. Get it patented quick. ??

January 30, 2024 at 9:41 am #256715Does it make the car go faster?
January 30, 2024 at 9:52 am #256717“Does it make the car go faster?” Of course it does 🙂
Nice dry and warm electrons are much happier and work much faster (Taken from “Well known scientific principles” by J R Hartley)
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

That was done simply because I thought of it so me being me had to do it
It will do no harm and who knows it may help
I may never know and tbh dont particuly care
Not sure now if I should put up the pics of the Giant woolly sock that I keep my E Tec in overnight

The pir light up inside the hat is quite handy tho
January 30, 2024 at 8:37 pm #256805Now that’s a good idea actually!
Just went to cable up my Enyaq to the ePod, pitch black out there even with a bright street light across the road!.
Second time I’ve charged it at home so fingers crossed it works again!, the big glaring red light on the charge port wasn’t very reassuring when I charged it for the first time last week!. According to the Ohme App says it will add 148 miles from 11:30 to 05:30 and all at 7.5p kWh 🙂

January 30, 2024 at 10:55 pm #256815Clever! Do you want to borrow my tools lol.
January 30, 2024 at 11:39 pm #256822Well, car started charging a couple of minutes after 11:30 🙂
Once again the MySkoda App shows it’s charging at 6kW and not 7kW, is that normal?

Keep an eye on it before you go bed, incase it ramps up to 7kW once the battery is warm.
The settings within the charger could be set to 60A cut-out, rather than 80
Update in morning 🙂
January 31, 2024 at 8:18 am #256835@kezo Checked it again just after 00:30 still 6kW
App load limit is set at 60A, Max charge is set at 32A, I have an 80A fuse fitted by the DNO

Max Charge 32A
Load limit 80A
Ohme will adjust is for you if you contact, with the serial number requesting the load limit is adjusted 60 to 80A.
Its an installer mistake for not setting up commissioning the charger.
The E-Pod requires the installers app if you want to have ago 🙂
January 31, 2024 at 8:39 am #256838I’ve emailed Ohme and put a photo of the fuse in, the carrier says 100A 🙂
Well that was fast, under an hour!, load limit now set to 80A 🙂
Probably be next week when I charge again so we’ll see what happens 🙂

January 31, 2024 at 10:27 am #256844Great! keep us updated next week 🙂
I wonder how many haven’t realised the installer left the charger at default settings!

@phaedra can I how long it took ohme to contact you back after you submitted all requested information via their survey??
my husband just send all details today and I’m just wondering how long will take them to respond. My installation will be a complex one as there is around 25m from my fuse/electric meter box and I don’t have a wall just a fence. ?January 31, 2024 at 11:09 am #256849Exactly what I had already posted as it happened to me
Phaedra noticed much quicker than I did
Also to add
App in settings still not showing anything for load balancing just says No
Also CT Clamp reading showing 0A
Seen other peoples screenshots and there ones show different
But charger still working Ok cant help wondering that leaving Easee Equalizer box in place is having something to do with that along with a unatached dangling CT clamp
January 31, 2024 at 11:29 am #256850I think (poor memory!) I got a call a few days after saying they couldn’t install as my cable would be running over “public access”. It took a few emails to show them I was going to be using the KerboCharge gully and it was all perfectly legal.
I’ll try and search on here for the post I put up and let you know 🙂
So, had a quick search and after sending off the survey I think it took about 6 weeks to get it sorted and approved. But, that was because of having to get the KerboCharge accepted by them, even though they’d already done installations for other customers using it.
They were very quick this morning when I asked them to reset the charger to the correct max load current so I’ll give them that one 🙂
