Good article in the MailOnline about the new MG4. £31,500 for the 270 mile long range version or £25,995 for 218 mile range. Ray Massey calls it the peoples Tesla, he really likes it.

Johnny on Late Brake Show put a review vid up recently, not watched it yet though. Suspect they’re going to shift quite a few though, let’s hope they appear on the scheme.
September 3, 2022 at 1:20 pm #195681Correction it’s just £28,495 for the 280 mile long range version.

September 3, 2022 at 2:31 pm #195685Impressive car. My one worry with MG is reliability.
September 3, 2022 at 2:54 pm #195686I’ve got the MG5 and I’m doing almost the full 20k a year, so far with mines, and on the MG forums, there’s been no major issues with reliability ?
There have been some niggling issues on the forums with some cars but no more than I’ve experienced in any other car ?♂️
The only thing that puts me off is the position of the charger on the near side rear…. it just makes it more awkward to access chargers for a wheelchair user ☹
September 3, 2022 at 3:17 pm #195687Apparently the UK allocation for 2023 has already sold out.
September 3, 2022 at 4:57 pm #195691I’m not surprised. This could be a wake up call for other manufacturers. With money tighter, people will be looking for value for money. Residuals will be key, for fleet, private and Motability. As we have seen with Dacia, low RRP doesn’t necessarily lead to low AP’S or lower monthly leasing costs. However with electric cars, brand loyalty is less of an issue so its going to be interesting going forward.
September 3, 2022 at 6:32 pm #195693These Chinese EV manufacturers could certainly be the way forward for Motability given their low purchase price.
September 4, 2022 at 12:26 pm #195718Apparently there’s an new MG5 EV about to be launched, it’s an estate with a decent boot. Does anyone know if the old MG5 EV was on Motability, what was the AP?
September 4, 2022 at 6:52 pm #195733Yes it was on Motability. Unsure as to the AP but I think it was around £2.5k. The new model looks a lot better than the current one with a totally revised front.
September 4, 2022 at 9:20 pm #195737Couple of points,
UK allocation will be close to sold out as many people who had already experienced MG EVs ordered the 4 as soon as it was announced.
Dismiss Chinese EVs at your pearl, I remember plenty of people slagging off Datsun when they first arrived ?
The ZS face-lift model has just been released and the face-lift 5 is due soon, wish I could change now cause I’d order it in a heartbeat ?
I got my 5 in Feb ’21 and think the AP then was £800 & £1,200 for the 2 models, both 52kWh batteries. Since then they’ve increased the battery to 61kWh and added adaptive cruise & lane assist so deposits went up but anybody who follows this forum should know the AP can rise and fall on a weekly, daily, hourly basis ?♂️
