AnonymousHello, i am undecided on what to order, could anyone help sway my decision on which one of these i should order?
I understand they are 2 completely different cars, ones and SUV and the other a coupe. Both look nice, with Mercedes probably a bit more prestigious and a better-looking interior, the Tiguan has adaptive cruise, lane assist and a diesel engine.
The Mercedes is 1.3 petrol but figures show it can achieve 55mpg, sales rep claimed he achieved this on a motorway run. I currently have a 2015 3 series BMW diesel, which is really good on economy, especially when i hit the motorway.
I can get £500 AP off from my local Merc dealer and £250 AP off the Tiguan.
Any help would be appreciated.

NoelI had the windows tinted on our last car(golf estate) just sent it back and got the good condition bonus with no problems, and we never asked permission.
January 25, 2020 at 10:42 pm #104123I don’t know if this was bull but I did talk to a dealer once who had signed for the GCB on a car and they had bought it from Motability, after about a month of it being on their forecourt a customer was trying to buy it when he noticed it said a different colour on the logbook, it seems the Moby customer hadn’t been able to get a car in the colour he liked so got it wrapped the 2nd day he had it and nobody noticed for 3 years!
May be pie in the sky but I know how much interest most dealers have in regards to anything Motability related!

AnonymousDo you think the stealers will notice a re-map? 😀
January 26, 2020 at 12:56 am #104127
WinstonNot unless they are looking for it, ie if you take your car in cos the engine is playing funny buggers or worse ? and they look for the reasons behind the issues , then you could be up ? creek lol
January 26, 2020 at 1:04 am #104128That’s assuming they could find their own arse in a shower, had 6 attempts at fixing mine and still couldn’t manage it, I’d be surprised if anyone at a dealership had enough about them to know how to properly maintain an engine let alone be able to find or check for an engine remap!

PhiljbIf it’s mapped by a company who knows what they are doing a dealer would never know. As long as everything else is left standard.
A good company would save your original factory map so you could change it back if needed. In the past I’ve had flash tuning handsets so you can try different maps, but to really feel a difference you’d need to upgrade other things too.January 26, 2020 at 8:55 am #104133
WinstonThere’s a few companies near me who use generic maps then the one I’ve used in past is a lot more advanced and have their own big in-house dyno system and install a custom map for your specific car and like Phil says they save your standard map and every time you need to go into to the dealer s they install your standard one ( free of charge ) as many times as you need it
like I said I’ve used them in the past and never had any issues
just for the record I haven’t done it to my Mota car lol

PhiljbJust to add like any modification you should tell your insurance company, as you are in theory voiding your insurance if you don’t. Lots of insurance companies won’t allow any modifications.
I should have made it clearer, with a handset you have the original map saved so you can return it to stock yourself. These companies can also send you a single file and software so you can load it to your car with a laptop.
look up superchips . Collins performance, AMD. MRC in Banbury.
Dreamscience in Hull. Devil developments on south coast.
All of them have good reputations.Likewise my car is as it left the factory.
January 26, 2020 at 10:02 am #104136Regarding modifications and insurance my friend ordered a new car and chose 19″ wheels, an upgraded stereo, massage leather seats, nothing you would class as modifications but his insurance have said recently when he asked about getting a full stainless steel exhaust system that comes with a lifetime guarantee that he would have to pay an extra £400 as it would put him over their limit for modifications, when he said he hadn’t done anything else to the car they listed the factory options he chose, absolutely ridiculous if you ask me!
January 26, 2020 at 10:14 am #104139Legalised robbery vinalspin.
They claim the additional factory options make the car more likely to be stolen.
I’ve had that chat many, many times with the bandits.
I once had an expensive car and when it went I bought a hundred pound hack for a few weeks to tide me over. My insurance said the £100’er didn’t have the safety features of the old car and wanted ~£130 more. When I bought my new car they then wanted £100 more as the new car was “worth a lot more.” When I referred him back to the previous call, the sales bandit just laughed, literally!
Oh and the cost to cancel on both occasions was, bizarrely, exactly the same as the extra cost!
Car insurance truly is legalised robbery.
? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

paulhi i had same issue with merc plaster it on facebook and the head office get involved
January 26, 2020 at 2:40 pm #104158How can it make it more stealable, your average car thief (pleb) walking past a car would have no idea it had a massage function on the seats or the stereo had extra speakers, the alloys look exactly the same as the 18″, you would have to make a special effort to look on the tyres to know they were an inch bigger, as you say it’s legalised theft but when the government does these kind of things every day they couldn’t give a crap as long as it means more tax for the back pocket!

AnonymousWinston what’s the Dynaudio like it the Tig?
February 5, 2020 at 2:01 am #105233
WinstonI like it mate, I don’t regret adding it
i love listening to music when I’m driving , from Snoop Dogg to Black Sabbath, ABBA to AC/DC ???
tbh I haven’t messed about too much with the settings recently , once I got a good balance and sound I liked I’ve stuck with it
my pal has a Tig and her speakers are more than adequate , but I’m glad I went for the upgrade ??
