Lost our car

Phoned the dealership today as its been a month since agreeing to buy the black Peugeot 3008 that was coming available on 21st April. Turns out the car we were promised no longer exists! The motability guy has no idea where the car is or why it’s been removed by Peugeot. The whole point of taking what was on the shelf and not ordering exactly what we want was so we didn’t have delays with manufacturing or set backs with cash buyers getting our build and being put to the back of the queue.

I don’t know if they’ve prioritised selling the car to someone else or if the car genuinely fell of the back of the boat coming into the harbour. Either way I’m frustrated that we’ve agreed to “buy” that car and Peugeot have taken it away.

The Motability guy has however found us another car.

      Negatives:

No heated seats, no upgraded sound system, no built in fast charger, likely not available until May now.

      Positives:

It’s in Red! At £6,800 AP we should be saving about £1,640

Hopefully there’s no issues as technically the car is no longer on the motability scheme.

Sounds like you’ve been carzumped by a private buyer. Happening more and more these days, as you’ve hinted at. Motability aren’t interested, sadly!

I’m not sure if I’m  more surprised by you thinking the dealer would help you jump the queue or that you’re willing to pay a whopping AP for a mediocre Peugeot.

I’ll bet a quid that the car has been sold retail.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

Think you misunderstood. I’ve not asked anyone to help me queue jump, the car was ordered by someone else and then cancelled. It was being shipped to the UK and was available to buy, so I bought it. After agreeing the price, going down to the dealership to sign the paperwork and waiting a month for delivery, the car has now magically disappeared just 4 days before collection. Like you say probably sold retail (you could say somebody else has technically jumped the queue).

Did you not get on with the 300GT? I’d like to have done some more test driving but there’s not masses of choice for SUVs, particularly with current stock levels :/

Almost £7k and you’re missing options and your only positive is that is red?

Hmmm I think you need to have a proper think because spending so much and not getting what you desire is an expensive mistake to make.

In your posts you twice refer to ‘buying’ the car. I just wanted to make sure, as I am becoming increasingly concerned, that you are aware that the car will not be yours, Motability buy it and you are essentially renting it for 3 years and the advance payment, in your case £6800, goes to motability and you never see a penny of it again.

Yeah unfortunately it seems unless you’re able to wait potentially 12 or 18 months you don’t quite get what you want. This year will be 3 years since the process of getting a disability car started and we’ve still not got a car. We’re back to 1 car again and I don’t want to buy another car again just because of the delays with this whole process.

I wouldn’t spend that sort of money on any car from Motability least of all a run of the mill brand like a Peugeot and am amazed that any car with that sort of AP comes without heated seats these days.  I agree a rethink is in order.

Finally we’ve decided to go with the Peugeot 3008 GT 300. The dealer said it could be anywhere from 6 months to 18 months if placing a new order (we can’t wait that long as we’ve been down to 1 car on and off for the past 2+ years). The car in the showroom looked stunning in red and there were some nice optional extras I liked in the brochure, but we had the choice of either a white one or a black one (both arriving in the UK within 4 weeks). I’m really not a fan of white cars and the black one didn’t look a patch on the red either, but it did have a couple of extras I wanted (and some I didn’t) so bit the bullet and ordered it. The AP with the extras was absolutely eye-watering, but I didn’t want a sluggish suv.

The 3008 GT 300 Hybrid 4 was removed from the Scheme on April 1st 2023, Prior to that it was listed at £5999 Advance Payment.

Hi, thanks for your concern. Sorry, I use the phrase ‘buy” in my first post but I mean agreed to lease through motability and pay the AP with the understanding the car is assigned to me ?

Honestly it’s ridiculous, we were going to go with the X-Trail which is a £4k AP. Not only does that not have heated seats either, you’re not even able to add it as an extra. It’s only available on the Tekna and Tekna+ models (where you get front and rear heated seats, heated steering wheel etc) and those aren’t available to motability customers. I couldn’t get Nissan on the phone anyway ?

I liked the exterior styling of the Kuga but wasn’t quite sold on the interior. How did it drive? It’s been a long time since I’ve had a Ford, they were really nice to drive.

Had a Kuga back in 2014/15 found it stuck to the road like glue!

Hired quite a few Ford Escapes (US version of the Kuga) in the US with the CVT auto box and found it fine.

Kuga (Vignale & ST Line X) have heated front and rear seats and steering wheel.

Current car is a 2020 Seat Ateca Xcellence Lux, nice car but the 19″ tyres are complete rubbish in the wet or snow, also wipers judder and squeak (common problem).  If I was having a new one it would have been the Xperience (not Lux) as it has 18″ wheels, starts at £1249 but it loses the leather heated seats and remote boot opening which I find very useful.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
