This my my hope for Q1 21. The long awaited Kia Niro EV on the scheme.

Any other thoughts as we are only a few weeks away?

It was my hope too. But given the uncertainties of Brexit and coronavirus we decided to go for a bird in the hand and went for the Kia Soul.

In 3 years time there will hopefully be a much better selection of electric vehicles.

Really hope so, but doubt it. I don’t see why not though when you compare the price of the Kona. AP £4,000.

The Kona Electric kicks off from around £2,250 for the base model before topping out at around £4,000.

I was in the KIA dealership yesterday and back there today for my Soul EV test drive and i asked the same question about the E-niro and got told they have no plans to introduce it to the scheme as demand is far too high with a 6 to 7 months waiting list at the moment. I wondered with it been almost identical to the soul underneath if the AP would be around the same mark but apparently not, if it did appear on the scheme then they said it would be significantly higher due to the demand.

I’m not surprised to read this but somewhat surprised to read that private (retail) customers will be prioritised over Motability customers.

Dealers will always prioritise non Motability customers. The individual dealer will get a bigger pay day from a non Motability sale, they don’t make much at all individually from a Motability sale, only if volume bonus is available on top.

they get money from finance deals as well.

Motability us not a big earner for the individual Salesian I’m afraid

Ah, I see now. That makes sense. Thank you for the explanation ?.

It all depends if Kia what the car on the scheme and if they can agree a price, which they have done with the Kia Soul. Just called local dealer and was told if I ordered one it will arrive in the Feb quota. If not the next would be May/June.

Not looking hopeful then. New Vauxhall Mokka looks good. I just feel the boot might be too small
