After visiting a friend in Glasgow Royal Infirmary me and my wife happened to pass an Arnold Clark Hyundai dealership and went in for a look at the Ioniq 6. The salesman “James Macmillan” had a chat with us and told me that they were discounting the car by £250 and that a V2L charger comes free with the car, that was good enough for me lol.
My wife really likes the car but i thought it would be too low for her but she had a go getting in and out and was happy enough that she ordered one in black with grey interior.
Its getting delivered next week, gulp, and ive only a granny charger, at this point, so that could be interesting. Hopefully Motability can sort me out quickly with an EV charger.
Its an absolute bargain but of course its got to be right for you, but if your looking for an EV that has virtually everything then this could be the answer. The cars design is a bit Marmite but both me and the wife really like it.
The dealership address is:- 345 Alexander Parade, Glasgow G31 3AD
James direct line number is 0141 422 2780

Just about 18 months and 9k miles of pain free Ioniq 6 motoring in mines. I’m sure you’ll love it Brydo.
August 8, 2025 at 10:39 pm #310974Looks fantastic.
August 8, 2025 at 10:49 pm #310975I envy the fact you can get into something that low – and more importantly get out 😂
Looks great – enjoy 👍
August 8, 2025 at 11:48 pm #310976@kezo it must be something wrong on my side as I tried a couple of other links on the Forum and none of them worked.
I tend to use YouTube now rather than the manual it’s much easier 👍
@Rene my wife was the same but the car is a bit higher than you would imagine for a saloon so she felt it a bit lower than our xc40 but not a huge difference.
@Rhodgie the first thing that I noticed is how well it holds the ground. Coming from an SUV the difference is huge. The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.

Handy if been out in the rain or a car wash cause if you park it up wet then the next time the brakes release it’s like a gun going off 💣🗯🙉😂
Paddles obviously are to adjust regen but just holding the left one applies max regen until you release it, right one turns on/off auto regen where the car decides how much is needed.
August 9, 2025 at 3:22 pm #310989@Rhodgie I will bare that in mind, finding out all this stuff is the great thing about having a new car, especially one with as much tech as this 👍

August 9, 2025 at 8:38 pm #311002@wmcforum your not wrong it’s been a long slog. Motability don’t always have the car your looking for so sometimes you’ve just got to go with what’s on offer. Luckily this car has every bit of tech I could ask for and the AP is insanely low for a £50,000+ EV. I understand it won’t be suitable for everyone and it might not be to everyone’s taste but I think it’s a gem. I’ve been scooting about here there and everywhere for the past couple of days and the only thing I don’t like is the Hyundai badge it is rank and I’m looking for a black cover for it as I can’t stand the look of it. But apart from that I’m happy. I will be going on holiday next week so the first decent, although only 80 mile each way, journey so will get a good feel for it on the motorway and on A and B class roads. I’m really looking forward to it.

August 9, 2025 at 11:07 pm #311010Hi I am going to plasti dip mine, very easy to do. Loads of you tube tutorials. Get the plastidip spray from amazon, £18. A bit of blue or similar masking tape. Clean badges and area with a bit of ipa panel wipe, 4 or 5 light plastidip sprays. Then peel off, using a cocktail stick/toothpick, for a clean edge. If you warm.up.the plastidip, in a jug of water, its easier. And if it all goes wrong, peel it off and clean up with WD40.

Woke this morning (and wanted to be addressed as They Them 😂) to a message saying the process didn’t complete. I’ve sent an email to octopus asking them to look into it.
The charge successfully completed and when I look at the charge costs it was completed on my existing tariff Octopus Go.

Getting in and out is actually not a problem with the seat not all the way to the floor it turns out.
First time seeing a white one as well, probably best colour (imho) next to that Gold Matte (which is silver, on pictures) potentially – but haven’t seen that one yet.
How’s it treating ye so far?

I can honestly say I’ve never had such a pleasant driving experience as I had today. It was a mix of motorway and A class roads and it was an absolute joy, it helped that it was a very nice day but it was effortless.
I’m not a fast driver by any stretch of the imagination but I was hitting 75/80 on occasions and the low centre of gravity makes the bends on the A class roads a breeze.
Still have winter to come so let’s see how it is after that.

Forgot how humongous it actually is. Longer than a Santa Fe even, which already is quite stout.

Couldn’t believe it it’s something I never do. I was doing a three point turn at my daughters house, a manoeuvre I’ve done hundreds of times but the first time in the Ioniq 6 and bash clobbered it 😞😞😞😞

And yeah, bit of concern in that regard, down here the hospital parking lots are proper ridiculous. Can barely get the Golf around the turns without reversing, that kind of boat might genuinely not make it.
Need to see turning radius for myself, bit concerned in that regard.

Strangely with so many bings and bongs I would have expected an alert when getting so close to the kerb but there was nothing. My old XC40 would definitely have alerted me to the close proximity of the kerb 😞
Its strange I’m on holiday and all I can think of is getting back in the car for the journey home 😂

August 16, 2025 at 9:52 am #311369I can’t recall properly, i think they’re diamond cut wheels, so.. yeah, that sucks. 🙁
While you can repair diamond cut wheels, usually it’s not worth it. It’s never a “smart repair”, and always requires turning the entire wheel down a hair. Ask me how i know. 🙁
I don’t think there’s any car out there warning for proximity to curb though, especially not in a turn – that system would go off every speed bump then too, which around here would be egregious.
Yeah, hm.. Almost 12m turning radius is quite a limitation here. I actually haven’t given it much thought, but the more i think about it, the less convenient it’s going to be. It’s 1m more than our current car and the old Ateca, and a whopping 2-3m between Explorer and Elroq.
Ah well, still going to test drive, maybe i’m overthinking it. Definitely something i’ve got to keep an eye out for though.
That all said: if you look forward to driving your car, then you made the correct choice.

@ Rene I definitely think you can overthink things, once you’ve been out in it you will know if it’s right for you. Now that I’m aware of how big it is I almost certainly will not kerb it in the future, famous last words😂

@Brydo easy done cause it’s such a long car, I always turn the cameras on to make sure I stay well away from any kerbs. It will warn you if near an object but I’m not sure how high that object has to be before it sees it?With the cameras on you can press the small car symbol on the left of the screen to change the view, you can have just the side cameras on looking at the wheels when parallel parking.
