After visiting a friend in Glasgow Royal Infirmary me and my wife happened to pass an Arnold Clark Hyundai dealership and went in for a look at the Ioniq 6. The salesman “James Macmillan” had a chat with us and told me that they were discounting the car by £250 and that a V2L charger comes free with the car, that was good enough for me lol.
My wife really likes the car but i thought it would be too low for her but she had a go getting in and out and was happy enough that she ordered one in black with grey interior.
Its getting delivered next week, gulp, and ive only a granny charger, at this point, so that could be interesting. Hopefully Motability can sort me out quickly with an EV charger.
Its an absolute bargain but of course its got to be right for you, but if your looking for an EV that has virtually everything then this could be the answer. The cars design is a bit Marmite but both me and the wife really like it.
The dealership address is:- 345 Alexander Parade, Glasgow G31 3AD
James direct line number is 0141 422 2780

At the moment I have Kona – plug at front – length of cable not an issue – hopefully – in 10 days time will swop to Elroq plug at the back – where a petrol cap might be – so will reverse in – so my point – length of cable relative to charger and where socket is on car are also factors to bear in mind – forgive me for stating the obvious – but is it – sometimes you can be so focused on the more complicated that you miss it – I have in the past!!
July 17, 2025 at 10:54 pm #309786Hi Brydo, I have just had Bumblebee install a Hypervolt home pro3 . I’m just outside Manchester and they used a contractor from Liverpool to install.
I was able to specify length of cable for free, I got 10metre, I got surge protector as well .They even paired to my phone before they left.
Nice car you’ve chosen.
Regards, wonky
July 17, 2025 at 11:59 pm #309788Hi @Brydo. I’m sure that Bumble Bee is Arnold Clark’s supplier of electricity connectors with Ohme being the company that Motability use.
Arnold Clark acquired Bumblebee (Scottish based electric vehicle charge point installers) in 2023.
There is at least one other member on here, I remember, who had the same charger options as @Brydo from Bumblebee.

July 22, 2025 at 4:23 pm #310098Just had a call from Bumblebee asking which charger we wanted. I’ve gone for the MyEnergi Zappi V2 which will be installed within the next two weeks 🤞

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.July 23, 2025 at 10:05 am #310139So having ordered the Zappi 5m long cable charger I decided to make sure 5m was the right choice. In my mind my granny charger was 5m so no problem with a 5m Zappi.
Ok so just go out and check, I said to myself, as the Ioniq 6 charge port is on the other side from the xc40.
Tape measure in hand and 5m isn’t long enough. I measure the granny charger and it’s just over 7m long 🤔
Ok so I will need a 7m long cable just to be safe. Contacted Bumblebee who tell me the Zappi comes with a max length of 6m but the Hypervolt comes with 10m.
So back out with tape measure and the 6m is just too short, no matter if I drive into my space or reverse.
So the Hypervolt 10m it is.
Who would have thought that 5m is so short?

Me – ran into exactly the same issue 2 weeks ago when we measured for the Ford Explorer that has the charging port on the rear right (the Golf on the front left).
We decided to spring for a new cable (our charger is untethered). 10m cable, and the cable that comes with the car will be our “public charging cable” if we can’t find a thethered fast charger.

Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.July 23, 2025 at 10:33 am #310142I’m beginning to think that your house is cursed😂
Nothing wrong with the Hypervolt, it’s Octopus Intelligent and Ovo Charge anytime friendly and overall a neater package!
However, what you could have done is had the lead changed on the Zappi to 10m by the local spark or yourself. The downside it would cost to buy another cable.
July 23, 2025 at 11:20 am #310147Cursed Kezo you better believe it I’ve just had an email from my DNO saying I need a “Cablehead Upgrade” and nothing can be installed until this is done.
Ive phoned them to get timescales for the work and no one can tell me. I now have a case handler who will get back to me with some details but the girl I spoke to said they were very busy and it could take a while “maybe a month or so”.
😩😤😡

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.July 24, 2025 at 9:40 am #310217I called Bumblebee last night regarding the email from my DNO and they said they hadn’t been contacted about the problem but my install will still go ahead but with some sort of limiter on my charger restricting the charging speed. He also told me that that it can take months for the DNO to complete the work 😞😞😞
They told me the charger was out for delivery and as soon as I receive it I will get an email giving me a choice of dates for the install.
Half an hour later I got a call from the Hyundai dealership telling me the car will be available from Thursday next week for us to pick up.

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.July 24, 2025 at 10:18 am #310222The charger will be installed at half power (3.7kW) with load balancing via CT clamp – still 1.6 x faster than granny. Once the work has been completed by the DNO Bumblebee will come back and adjust the setting or you can easily do it yourself with or without guidence from me. I’ll find a flow chart later on how the DNO process works.
On the day of the install, I would not mention the letter and let the installer get on with what what the office has told them, as it’s upto the office to dealer with the DNO, not the paye installer, which could complicate matters, if you know what I mean.

Even the lovely sales lady was shocked, especially when the GC came up on the screen. Gone for metallic grey, light interior. Fantastic drive. Unfortunately, no stock of matt grey which was my preferred choice, as its different. But happy days.
July 26, 2025 at 4:17 pm #310402Just had a call, charger getting fitted on Monday. They had a cancellation so they’ve slotted me in instead. Car will get picked up on Thursday.
