After visiting a friend in Glasgow Royal Infirmary me and my wife happened to pass an Arnold Clark Hyundai dealership and went in for a look at the Ioniq 6. The salesman “James Macmillan” had a chat with us and told me that they were discounting the car by £250 and that a V2L charger comes free with the car, that was good enough for me lol.
My wife really likes the car but i thought it would be too low for her but she had a go getting in and out and was happy enough that she ordered one in black with grey interior.
Its getting delivered next week, gulp, and ive only a granny charger, at this point, so that could be interesting. Hopefully Motability can sort me out quickly with an EV charger.
Its an absolute bargain but of course its got to be right for you, but if your looking for an EV that has virtually everything then this could be the answer. The cars design is a bit Marmite but both me and the wife really like it.
The dealership address is:- 345 Alexander Parade, Glasgow G31 3AD
James direct line number is 0141 422 2780

July 27, 2025 at 4:13 pm #310455Called the dealership to make sure Thursday is the pick up date only to find out they’ve ordered the wrong colour. So looks like it will be a couple of weeks before it appears 😡

Just sloppy work by Arnold Clark or have they sold yours cough!
July 27, 2025 at 7:08 pm #310474No idea Kezo but I’m not to bothered it will arrive soon and in the grand scheme of disappointment it’s probably the least problematic of all 😂

I am having a bit of a wobble, have ordered metallic grey, but seen a few red on you tube, they look lovely and the red seem to pop in the sunlight. Would go with the grey too.
July 27, 2025 at 10:13 pm #310496Have you looked at any cosmetic extras. I like the storage separators..
July 27, 2025 at 10:15 pm #310497Good idea of the red, on this guys channel.
July 27, 2025 at 10:49 pm #310500@LordMuc I liked the red but the wife wasn’t keen.
No I haven’t looked at any extras.

July 28, 2025 at 7:55 am #310513I like that arm rest cover! I feel the centre console does need a bit of embellishing, it let’s the car down on a premium feel. The grey interior has a very sandpaper feel to the centre console, I like the centre cover too, have seen a grey wood finish, which would be better on the grey, rather than the carbon fibre look. I guess its down to sustainability, with fishing nets, bottles and old tyres being reused, but I do like a plush interior. Nice link. Cheers.

Honestly, that dealership are hopeless. Is it worth phoning about to see if Parks in EK have anything or you happy to wait?
July 28, 2025 at 12:47 pm #310538Been reading about relay fraud, what precautions do I need on the 6, to stop it being stolen, as this car stands out somewhat, although we live in a relatively suburban area, cars, (Range Rovers especially), and bikes, get nicked from the drives on a regular basis. Every other car seems to have a giant crook-lock on the steering. Would this be a wise investment. I have air tags in our cars, hidden away. Keys not hidden but in Faraday pouches on the kitchen worktop. Break-ins to steal keys is reported on a local Facebook, fairly regularly. The are the expensive alarm types. Any advice.

I.E Tucson disable keyless:
Lock the car using the key fob remote. Press lock again and while holding that lock button also press and hold unlock. Hold the two buttons for 4 seconds.
The car will now not respond to keyless entry and must be opened using the key fob buttons. The process needs to be repeated each time you want to stop keyless entry.Does the i6 have smart phone entry, as it much safer.
July 28, 2025 at 1:11 pm #310543Use a Stoplock it fits through the steering wheel, thieves will look for an easy fast target.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally say the wrong thing.
July 28, 2025 at 1:14 pm #310545@KamKam no I’m happy to wait as it’s likely to be here next week plus they are giving £250 off.
The company are here fitting the charger, he hasn’t raised any concerns yet but the day is young.

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.July 28, 2025 at 1:14 pm #310546I had an X1 stolen from my drive 4 cars back – must have been cold call cased the joint – we never totally dead locked front door – so wire through letter box got keys to car – pushed it quietly out and off .
It was very professional didn’t take any other valuables from house – so now keys in faraday pouch that are kept in a faraday box – out of sight- far less chance of amping up signal – front door properly locked – ring camera on front door bell – I make sure nothing can be obviously seen if front door is open and always close kitchen door before opening front door – we have a police sign no cold callers – it used to be respected – but less and less these days – usually under the guise of charity work – but who knows.
So try to air on the side of caution whilst trying not to be too paranoid or stressed – hope maybe some of this helps 👍
July 28, 2025 at 1:45 pm #310547Key’s in a small faraday case, velcroed under my desk.
Disabling keyless is pointless, if they really want the car, they’ll go for the key – so securing the doors etc is as important as the car itself.
We invested in Wyze cams (a few), some in visible spots, others less so. Knock on wood, so far so good.

July 28, 2025 at 3:55 pm #310553Thanks, I have cameras too, might put up another one, solar eufy. Unfortunately its so brazen around my way, I watched a social media post the other day, of lads on mopeds using a cordless angle grinder on another moped parked right outside the entrance of IKEA, broad daylight, just made off with it, another, was of a guy riding a decent racing bike, the two mopeds surrounded him, hit him and took the bike and shot off on their mopeds, that was on a busy south Croydon road. Of course they shot off up a no entry, so couldn’t be followed. Yup, we try not to too paranoid, but its so common around here.
July 29, 2025 at 9:51 am #310586Wobble time again, the other half, has just shown me an email, from OVO, dated 15 july, our supplier, saying the anytime cheap tariff will not work with an omhe charger, the hyundai, is on a beta list, so it may or may not work. Is this a dead end as suggestions seem to be, either ditch the car or go to octopus, or get a another charger, ie hypervolt. The other half wants to say with ovo, as its fixed. Do we have a choice of chargers from MB. Ps this maybe a double post.
July 29, 2025 at 10:05 am #310587Whether or not it’s fixed shouldn’t matter at all, just do the math.
Yeah your fixed tariff might be slightly cheaper than an Octopus EV tariff if you exclude the car – but do the math assuming your average mileage in the car.
I will say that we bought our charger ourselves, because we wanted to futureproof our parking bay (no free charger with PHEV) – imho worth it.
I certainly wouldn’t ditch the car just because your wife wants to stay on a certain tariff, that just makes zero sense. Go octopus, if your wife is stubborn for no apparent reason, look into another charger (they can be had used for reasonable money, btw).
edit: around £300 gets you an Easee One (what we bought new). Yeah it sucks a bit, but you make those £300 back within the first 5000 miles easily, assuming you get an EV tariff.

Yeah, probably best course of action.
Well, get a nice bouquet, and change to octopus after. 😛
