Many are relient on keeping warm and mobile. It is important to find the best deal we can.

Myself with Octopus, registered as disabled and OAP. Can say they are looking after me. Running an EV on ‘Intelligent Octopus Go’ which gives me charging during the day when it can as well as off peak.

Gas – Invited me onto a 16mth fixed tariff to beat price increases and keep the same rates. Unsure if it’s available for new customers.

Just to be clear, Octopus have all but stopped the daytime charging, they now say,

“We’re making some changes to your ‘ready by’ time options.
You’ll notice this change from 27th February.
Here’s what you need to know:

You’ll now only be able to choose a ‘ready by’ time between 4am and 11am

This is to ensure you have a smooth charging experience

If you need to charge during the daytime, you’ll need to Max Charge instead
If you need to update your set up, you’ll be prompted to do so once you open up the Ohme app.”

I have found that Octopus is charging my EV during the day as well at times of low demand. A win win.

”Occasionally we’ll smart charge your car outside of the off-peak window but don’t worry, all smart charging is billed at the off-peak rate.”

This is a “utility” saving money post.

 

I watched the Martin Lewis show this week ,specifically warned people about the impending water price increase coming in April for all water companies the increase is not the same across all water companise my Yorkshire Water company is increasing prices by 32% but that is dwarfed by the rise in Southern Water who are increasing prices by 47%.

 

If you qualify contact your water company and ask about “social tariff” i did’nt know they existed for water companies,i contacted mine and they put me on one of their social tariffs and it reduced my fortnightly payment from £25.60 currently (and around £33 in April) to £15.60 and i can use as much water as i want too even tho i am on a water meter.

I’ve had a disability discount on my water bill for a few years now, or so I thought, as I was taken back a bit on the current bill when it stated my reduction is because I’m a pensioner and no mention of my disability. Maybe they just didn’t want to mention the “disabled” word because as we know being disabled is the cause of all this countries financial problem.

My water bill this year is twice as much, percentage wise, than the council tax even with a pensioners discount.
