I took delivery of it in late 2024x first issue occurred the day after I got it, the eye tracking camera failed.
numerous issues including
- phantom breaking
- oncoming car warnings when there are none
- key not found error
- “system error do not drive” error
- ACC NOT AVAILABLE error
- not to mention the black screen
today the car attempted to harshly juddered as it believed there was an oncoming car.
its just been recovered my the RAC; and comically the RAC say I’ll have to way up to three days for a courtesy car.
i think it’s time to leave the scheme; the very poor selection of very expensive cars have pushed us all towards the end, this is it for me. I’ll end my lease.
do not get the Volvo EX30 please

Sorry to hear of your troubles
Its all about personal choice
Volvo on/off scheme/up/down APs wth
I have a fantastic good looking/fast/car with a very low AP
Plenty of better and cheap AP cars imo you could/can go for
Seems your choice of car has back fired but there are plenty of happy motorbility customers out there
Great selection of cars
Far from a poor selection imo if you are looking at the EX30 size of car
Seems the EX30 experience is well documented

February 6, 2025 at 10:01 am #297149Sorry to hear about the issues you encountered with your EX30, mine was delivered 1st Oct 2024 and have not experienced any problems. A lovely car to drive and economical to run. I’ve done about 3,200 miles so far.
February 6, 2025 at 9:21 pm #297174I am glad I didnt get one. They have been problem some from inception. This article evidences some of the issues https://www.carscoops.com/2024/07/volvo-forced-to-refund-defective-ex30-evs-plagued-by-bugs/ . At one point I understand all the cars were subject to a recall for a software issue. It’s surprising for Volvo but not acceptable. It isn’t isolated though. Ive had glitches with my skoda enyaq. Not software related but hardware. New battery, new seat base, new control modules. They dont build them like they use to!
2024 Skoda Enyaq estate- 85x Sportline plus in Race Blue. Extras: Supernova 21 inch wheels, Maxx Pack, Transport Pack, Heat Pump and Pano Sunroof.
Ordered 31/10/23, Delivery 27/3/24February 7, 2025 at 8:37 pm #297284Lots of us, list of faults is baffling

February 8, 2025 at 10:58 am #297320Time imo to reject the car as not only being dangerous to drive
But also as its increasing anxiety levels
Liaise directly with motorbility underscoring the fact that the issues being raised are widespread

February 8, 2025 at 12:58 pm #297327Sorry to hear about your awful experience.
Sounds like almost the same problems I had with my iD4. Hope your next choice on or off the scheme brings you joy and much less stress.

this is my main concern- is that it’s just one thing after another when I get In the car it’s one beep one error message one issue after another. Too much computer, not enough car!
February 9, 2025 at 9:30 am #297364Sorry to hear about your experiences. Life is tough enough without a brand new car being riddled with faults. Agree, too much computer, not enough car. Vag have had a terrible couple of years with software failures – issues is too light a term- and stupid user interfaces. My Touran looks near identical to my first in 2017, but the HVAC interface is much worse than previous and the interim Allspace’s “ knobs and buttons”. It would not get past day one in aviation. The digital dash is a dumbed down shadow of its former self. What are manufacturers thinking, and who are they employing to manage development? VAG have bought a stake in Xpeng, allegedly to glean some software know how. Meantime Geely, who own Volvo and Polestar have taken a further year to deliver the EX90 due software issues and sounds like China- built EX30 is a little shaky too. Like all computers, garbage in equals garbage out. KISS a preferable philosophy, imho.
No wonder the BEV second had market is a disaster. Trust in short supply. Fresh from buying back 2900 I Paces due to unresolved battery fire issues, there are delivery mileage, pre reg new ones being offered @ 40% discounts. I can see APs remaining high due to the inevitable losses being made at end of lease.
February 12, 2025 at 11:52 am #297555Just recently got mine, SMER ULTRA. Really liking it already. although with £2k AP rise in Jan, I would of had to get something else.
It already had 1.5 installed and I’ve had no issues so far and I’ve driven it on all road conditions and on the motorway in the wet.
I need something less than 4.2m to fit on, my tiny off-road space. Now I have an EV, I can maybe get onto the local trial of kerbo.
Even in places my old car would flash up the collision warning on a daily basis it doesn’t.
Which got worse after having the radar replaced and it recalibrated. Now every time you drive between two staggered parked cars it has a fit. The ex30 no issue at all..
I Think their issues with many modern cars, safety systems and they are not 100% and often have a fit, what causes that fit can differ and the response to it also can differ.
The EX30 has a serious amount of safety features over other cars and I’ve have driven other cars where sudden low sun flashing has made it think it was going to crash or a plastic bag in the air, or a car is turning left and stops, you go to drive around and the car emergency brakes, almost causing the driver behind to crash into you.
Numerous cars I’ve driven, where the infotainment blacks out at some point and needs a reboot although, yep in ex30 its a bigger issue no speedo, but you do have hazards and demister above near the sos and reading lights.
I have been in the ex30 group on Facebook and it seem these issue you have are with a small batch of cars and many others just don’t have these issues at all.
What version is you car on. If its not on 1.5 you might be able to get the dealer to install it, some have said they have done. As for some reason they stopped it, via OTA but its coming again soon. But if the issue is with the hardware that will need replacing to solve the issues.
I do get it’s not ideal but these things do happen to all cars and manufactures, hopefully one way or another you get this resolved to your satisfaction.
