Hi

I was wondering whether the ‘free’ EV charger from your first EV vehicle has to be installed at the cars registered address?

It’s not possible to have one installed where we live but it would be possible to have one installed at my wife’s parents house where we spend a lot of time. Her dad is also a named driver on any motability car she gets.

First post so please be kind if it’s a silly question 🙂

If it does go as you hope, consider changing to a tariff that would make charging more affordable. I understand OVO have a charge anytime tariff, for example. At the charge address of course!

Hi, I just registered to answer your question to say yes it is possible to install the EV charger at a different address.

Firstly your a step ahead of me before I was able to do it, because they are already a named driver…I do think the distance between your home and theirs plays a part in it being possible though.

They also have to give consent to this…the named driver.

That is good news if the chargepoint can be fitted at another address. It could help a lot of people. The distance thing is about 6 miles or so and a tracker is usually fitted as well.

But give Motability a call and explain your requirements are necessary for the customer.
