Has anyone had a problem with their Enyaq keyfob? Car is almost 12 months old but keyfob was dead, no flashing red light and none of the buttons worked, it took a few attempts to wake it up but it’s now working and seems fine. Don’t think it’s the battery as I read they should last 3 years.

Normal keyfobs nay last a few years.

But these ones that wale the car up as you approach may not last as long.

Book the car in to the garage, but use the spare key in the meantime.

The last service/update (not skida), they gave me the option of replacing wipers and keyfob batteries

I keep my key fob in a farady pouch whenever I’m at home. This is to prevent the key from constantly communicating with the car.

Trouble is I’ve had the batteries replaced once already, after 12months. Now 6 months later the key I use everyday has stopped working again.

Just went into car reporting section in the infotainment system and it is indeed advising me to change the battery, battery not lasted a year.

VAG keys don’t work like this. They turn themselves off if there is no movement, so no communication.

              – yeah, I think swapping out the battery every 12 months is ‘normal’. It would be interesting to know how frequent others change their battery.

Ditto What @DumfriesDik says, the key goes to sleep if no movement after a number of seconds. You know when it’s awake as the red light flashes.
