‘We’re getting in touch to let you know what’s happening in the car market, as it could effect you when ordering you come to order your next motabillity scheme car in a few months time’.

‘A global shortage of semiconductors, plus other factors like COVID 19 and the conflict in Ukraine are causing industry wide manufacturing delays’.

‘This means there could be fewer models available than you’re expecting and you may need to consider one that you hadn’t previously thought about’.

Then just basically saying that if I have low mileage I can extend my lease by a year or two.

More financial help and a longer ordering window would be more beneficial. I’ve loved the Kona EV but it’s just to small now and I’m looking forward to it going and getting something bigger even if it means going back to ICE.

If the Kona is too small, it’s got to be worth a look at the Ioniq 5.

Most of that letter seems to be a rehash of the last few years, semiconductors, Covid, struggles, delays, blah, blah.  Most manufacturers can get their cars out in a reasonable time frame, although we do seem to have adjusted what is reasonable now.  We’ve gone from 12 months plus to just 6 months like it’s a huge improvement whilst forgetting that stock was more available not so long ago.

I thought that the supply chains were ok now?

Did Motability write this? It’s not written very clearly or correctly if it’s a direct quote, so check the email address you received this from. Could be a spam account trying to get you to click into a website.

If it was genuine, why were you the only one to get it, as has been said, I would be careful as to where this came from, maybe even give Motability a call in the morning and ask them and make them aware of it, as it certainly sounds like a scam and if only they had also mentioned the second world war being a factor, we could have known for sure.

Yea Mick, I have read the first paragraph again and I am obviously missing the clue that you have noticed, so would you like to share your observation with me please. If they are sending him a letter because he is about to change his car, then why did the rest of us who are about to change our car not get the same letter.

John what is the date when your lease ends ? Do Motability have your correct email ?

My lease ends 3rd May 2024 and i had the email on the 7th Nov 2023.

Folks I have been reading but I’m not really up to a longish reply at the moment, but I will in the morning and hopefully clear it up.

I’ve had the exact same email as MickC from MB about a fortnight or so ago. I can order a new car in January.

My car is know up in April, but I have already ordered a car.

But my original question was if/why was he the only one getting the letter, which I now know that there are others getting the badly written letter from Motability with way outdated excuses.

I knew it wasn’t a scam as everything checked out. And now others have them.

Still using COVID as a excuse… Sigh

is not the “only one” to recieve the email @solent60 received it a fortnite ago ….see #249336

There is also a help page on the Motability website  https://news.motability.co.uk/motoring/vehicle-supply-issues-and-delayed-orders-your-questions-answered/?_ga=2.24718456.370151781.1700646019-1395140458.1700646019

Maybe you’ve been excluded the badly written email because you have already ordered.
