The biggest increase has been the tiny Fiat 500e. The price of the cheapest version has leaped from £19,995 to £30,645 – an increase of 53 per cent – since this time in 2020.

December 21, 2022 at 1:19 pm #203168Still more than three then, for starters they completely ignore the Corsa-E, they’re not even mentioning it.
It’s also pretty stupid to omit cars like the MX30 because it’s a whopping £150 over (an amount that any dealership would wave).
Are there enough affordable electric cars? No, certainly not. The reality is though that electric cars are more expensive to build, so i’m not sure what we’re expecting here.
I’d also trust a sketchy fortune reader offering to tell me the future based on some coffee grains more than anything that comes from any paper related to Murdoch.
It’s also, of course, ignoring inflation as well as the fact that demand is stupendously high. Yeah, of course stuff’s going to be expensive when demand is through the roof (and waiting lists are measured in years, not weeks). Once the storm settles, EVs will come back down in price.

The main point is local authorities around the country are introducing these clean air zone’s with the aim of pushing those on low incomes onto on to public transport, without increasing the provision of said transport.
It is in fact a wealth tax on the working poor, most people who drive older polluting vehicles do so becuase they cannot afford anything better, while those more affluent who can afford newer less polluting vehicles will not be affected.

Just watched a couple of videos on YouTube by Planet Auto, a couple take it on a long trip around Scotland, it performed brilliantly. They even use the Tesla supercharger in Aviemore.
This will be the go to car for people on Motability wanting to go EV.

This is correct.
But to put the blame for that at the manufacturers like the daily vomit is trying to do, i mean.. i’d argue that the blame should go to the government. Any other country that put a “ban” on future ICE in place still has grants in place to reduce the price of EVs. There’s plenty of stuff that the government could do to make access to EVs easier, we could take the 500 billion pounds the Tories burned by appointing a reaganist that got hit by a hammer on the head a few too many times and reintroduce a £15.000 discount on all EVs and still save hundreds of billions. Germany still pays 6k euros towards an EV, so does france – and france increases that threshold to 7k for low income households.
Us? Maybe 75% off of a charging point, yay i guess.
But nah.

It’s even worse as those countries you mention have much better and cheaper public transport provision.
As with everything with UK governments these days the Low emmsion zone policies are a dogs dinner, as the rules and amounts charged between the different clean air zones differ, if I take my vehicle into Newcastle I wont be charged (at the moment it starts on the 30-01-23), but in other zones I will and for different amounts, while London forget it.
CAZ and ULEZ take no account of an individuals ability to pay or circumstances and as always its those that can least afford it that are shafted.

December 21, 2022 at 2:43 pm #203183I think if your vehicle is registered as a disabled passenger vehicle and exempt from tax or you drive a complaint vehicle then at the moment you are exempt.
As for the ULEZ zone in London there is an exemption at the moment until 2027 when even if your vehicle is exempt from tax you will still need to pay the charge if the vehicle is not complaint.

Yep and what use for many is an ev when you cannot charge it at home at the cheapest rate.
We can blame the goverments but it goe’s higher than that to the corporation’s and multi national companies and the private central banks never mind the one’s we have on the high st.
The policies have been set out at a much higher level than goverment but are also rolled out from grass roots levels and we’ve been signed up.
It don’t matter who’s in power running the show, all that will change is how we get to the goals setout in that agenda and by when and that unfortunately is the demise of the car and private car ownership and who must pay for the demise the drivers.
Who’ll be ok heating their homes and not have to worry are the same people who wil lnot have a problem driving a car at any cost they can afford it, As can all mp’s nd lets not even talk about how much top brass are paid at the council or in the nhs or those overseeing these net zero schemes or even the ceo of MB or MBO and other top jobs. They will all be ok, why becoause they over see the control of us and the direct everything must go and do not care or need our consent to do so. If things go wrong they just replave that person with another on their payroll and control and control who gets into the postions in the 1st place.
I forget to say as had to drive the mrs and her sister to hospital to see their mum probably for the last time. That I think the article is based on family sized cars and corsa is a bit small as is the zoe and the up for the average family and this is who it will hit the most.
A car is in most case’sis the cheapest mode of transport for a family, even a taxi works out cheaper than using public transport in most area’s. They also against the family, un agenda also says the family structure is unsustainable and want to destroy it as the goverment can do a better job than parents, not just the bad ones but all parents. So crazy to thing how they will reach the goals they’ve setout like those of the wef the Bilderberg’s and the elite who fly into conference’s to decide our ultimate fate and how they will make us pay for it all. The car makers are all part of system, unless your someone like elon musk then they target him a he’s not their player, same as trump imo. The media also play their part as they owned/controlled also by the same people. putin was also a wef young leader, like boris, Arden Trudeau etc etc now they all in position to enforce the agenda setout.

In many case a blue badge holder can drive a standard vehicle – those vehicles will have to meet the emission restrictions.In London, Blue Badge holders will have to pay the ULEZ charge from April 2019 unless the vehicle has a disabled or disabled passenger tax class untill 2027 as @Volkswin says. You can also apply for a grace period if you are claiming disabled benifits such as PIP/DLA or armed forces benifits, as long as the vehicle is registered to the benifit holder or nominated driver.
WAV owners also have a similar grace period.
Londons ULEZ will be by far the most strictest.
There are 4 class types of Clean Air Zones outside of London A,B,C.D as detailed below:
A. Buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles
B. Buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles
C. Buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles, HGVs, vans, minibuses
D. Buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles, HGVs, vans, minibuses, cars. Local authority has the option to include motorcycles.For example, Birmingham is a Class D zone, while Portsmouth is a Class B.
There are some national and local exemptions from the Clean Air Zone charges in cities outside London, You can contact the relevant authorities to find out if there are any local exemptions. The following are automatically exempt from national charges:
Ultra low emission vehicles
Disabled passenger tax class vehicles
Military vehicles
Historic vehicles
Vehicle retrofitted with technology accredited by the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS)Birmingham, Bath and Portsmouth. Clean Air Zones are coming to Bradford, Bristol and Newcastle later in 2022, while the Greater Manchester CAZ is currently under review.
