Not intending to start any competitions. Simply making the point that 900 miles in a diesel, for around £90, without having to stop is not unheard off. Now if you said we done 900 miles and it cost about £30 in electric, you would have converted me instantly.
Why post this? Firstly 900 miles is nearly 13 hours at the national speed limit, longer on A roads. Driving continuously for that long may not be unheard of but is definitely unwise and probably dangerous. If you’re just eating and drinking on the go there’s still questions to be answered.
Then there’s the whole price thing. I drive around town, for short trips all year around for less than 3p per mile. When I go away I have to pay more but, frankly, couldn’t care less. I’ve saved enough over petrol or diesel that I’ll need to drive a stupid distance to risk losing all that saving.
Even after all that, this thread is about the ease of finding chargers and charging. About having a break away from home and not having a massive headache finding chargers. None of that deserves a I can drive miles for pennies in my ICE type comment. I’m pleased for you, great, just why do you feel the need? Are EVs that abhorrent to you that you need to post a counter comment?
