Bmw iX1 x-line 30 . Getting between 1 + 1.2 mile per percent of charge. So looking at around 110 – 120 miles on a full charge (100%). Kinda useless when the car is needed to travel to a hospital 144 miles away , going to need charged twice on a round trip of 288 miles. So much for making travel easier for disabled people. Why are they leading people down a path of getting an EV when they have not even tested these vehicles in real world conditions. The car itself is great , but was bought to save queueing at petrol stations and for convenience of a disabled person. Seems like it’s going to be the opposite and a total inconvenience and adding some range anxiety into the mix. No wonder EV sales are slumping and the second hand values are abysmal.
Sorry to hear this. Did you have a decent test drive before ordering? The reason I ask is that I had 3 different iX1s (including the model you have) on 24 hour test drives and with all of them the actual range I was getting was around half what the computer stated when I picked them up x – and this wasn’t in winter! Much as I loved our previous petrol X1, and probably would have got another one had they been on the scheme, I decided that I couldn’t live with the low real world range of the iX1, or any of its peers on the scheme. Strange that your motivation for getting an EV was to avoid queues at petrol stations. I have to say that’s not an issue that I’ve ever had, as I’d always top up when the car was down to around 25% full and if a petrol station was busy I’d just stop at a different one or return when it was quieter. Certainly far less hassle than charging.
Motability are staring to quote real world ranges on EVs now, but as they weren’t doing this when you ordered and the car is clearly not suitable for your needs, I would have thought that they’d let you do an early termination. You’d have to pay £250 but would get a pro rata refund on the AP. However, if you added optional extras (as most BMW drivers do) you’d lose the money on those. May be food for thought for you?
