I’ve just completed a solar panel and battery installation through EDF and their solar installation company. In theory I can then join their exclusive Solar tariff. No one at EDF could actually tell me the tariff rates (after some deep googling, I discovered them: tariff is at variable rate, with peak rate 10p above the variable rate between 4-7pm, 10p below variable rate 1 – 4am, no standing charge and 20p export rate). Signing up for this tariff has been a nightmare (EDFs solar contacts are via email only). Eventually I had to ask the company who installed the solar, Contact Solar (who’ve been faultless, speedy and efficient, but let’s see what ownership by EDF does to them), to give EDF a boot up the arse. I am due to receive my BEV in a couple of weeks, but I expect to still be on the standard variable tariff.
EDF’s EV and heat tariffs work in a similar “closed shop” way, in which customer services know little about!. EDF also uses Octopus groups Kraken platform for these tariffs, as does EON.
