    @crippleddad 5p per kWh is only available through Tomato Energy and I’m not sure what their day rates are so it would be worthwhile having a look to see what is the best overall package for you.

    Smart meters are the only real way to get the best deals available so essential for you going forward.

    If you give an idea of your car mileage and your yearly electricity use I might be able to give you some more accurate information.

    I have ordered smart meters and they are due to be installed next week. I don’t do a lot of mileage, 5,500 per year but it will still massively cut how much I’m paying once the meters are installed.

    I have just today received approval from my DNO to install a 12kw air source heat pump, 45kwh battery storage and a further 9kw of solar panels to go with my existing 3.6kw system. The battery storage should mean that I can charge them overnight for 5/7p per kwh and run my house all day without paying the much higher day rate. I will be looking closely with at Tomato Energy to see if the headline 5p per kwh for six hours overnight rate is as good as it looks.

    The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
