Mine was on when we had the cold snap a few days back – had to scrape ice off the car one morning! Off now, but feeling cold today so it may end up back on before dinner time. Only used 27,000kw of gas so far this year (1st Jan onwards), should hit 45,000kw before christmas, and that’s a mild winter. Heat pump not an option here! Electricity is good at 5000kw so far (have an EV, so its more than just putting the kettle on).
Abercol that’s a huge amount of gas to be using. I have a very big house and only used 16,500kwh last year and that includes hot water and cooking. Also my wife sleeps very little so the heating is on 18-20 hrs a day.
I had my heating on yesterday but turned the temperature down to 35*C. Which worked a treat.
Talking about Air Source Heat Pumps your kwh (electricity) consumption would be reduced to about 15,000 kwh down from 45,000.
The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
