Thanks for your reply. I always presumed that car performance was the main factor in determining the ABI group of a car and not the trim level? Given the A1 30TFSi Black Edition is a smaller and cheaper car than the A3 30TFSi Sport I am failing to understand why the A1 is group 17 and the A3 is group 16 even though they share the same engine?!
If only it were as straight forward as that, who knows the reasons why some models become available and some not, it could be as simple as supply and demand. With regard to insurance groups, that is also a dark art but the A1 with same engine as A3 will be a whole lot quicker!!! and possibly driven by younger people. Yep it does not seem fair but its just stats rather than opinion which sort the groups
