I personally think that this is only going to get worse once everyone is forced to own one. The government is not going to want to lose the massive amounts of money they make on the taxation of fossil fuels and the only way they will achieve this is if they transfer these taxes onto EV charging. You will also be at the mercy of the electrical companies who again once they know everyone is a captive audience will to their utmost to maximise their profits
I’m guessing the vast majority of people who don’t have access to home charging don’t have the ability to charge at work and who wants to be leaving a vehicle, possible worth 50k or more at a public charging station all night long where they can’t check the car is safe? Forcing people to do that is just going to make the job of car thieves so much easier when they know that the owner is not able to directly keep an eye on their car.
