Of course it won’t go through. The idea we have a two tier pension system is bonkers but never the less I have signed it. The way things are going, state pension age will rise and rise and for the younger generation (that are) working their bollocks off in low or high paid work, will have no state pension to act as a top up or to fall back on by the time they reach retirement age. We all ready have one if not the lowest state pensions as it is.

I do agree with what @Glos Guy and what others have said, when they say “We already have a benefit system that addresses those in genuine need” and  “wake up the feckless in society” opening a can of worms.

However, not all in society, have the ability to ensure they have the provision to fund their retirement and not rely on the state pension. The disabled who through no fault of their own, haven’t been lucky to have a working live or those on minimum wage, who struggle to make ends meet, living day by day. What options do they have other than to rely on the state, in retirement, funded by the tax payer.

I’m 56 now paid my stamp, had my own small business and grafted hard manual labour as an industrial, comercial sparky since I was 16, not sat behind a desk so, the government can think again if it thinks I’ll be working untill I’m 67.
