While I love my current Tiguan and have mostly stuck with VAG cars other than my last car a KIA I think I will be leaving the VAG group come any future cars.

It’s silly I know to say that but how a car looks is the least of my worries and the new driving layout of the Mk3 has sort of killed it for me and the big, big problem I have is the gear change on the right-hand side of the steering column has put me right off, would have been OK on the leftside? While you only have to to select the gear once and your off my problem is, it takes the place of the windscreen wiper controls and being a right-handed only disabled driver is a big no, no. Yes I know the wipers are automatic but there is quite often times the screen needs a little clean and wipe and this is easy for me with the control to the right of the steering column. I was hoping it was going to get the fly by wire lever they have in the Mk8 Golf as I don’t care where they put it as long as its not on the righthand side of the steering column.

I did think that maybe I might switch to a Skoda in future but seen a picture of a new model the other day and it appeared to have the same layout and leaves me having to search for something else in future or leave MB and buy second-hand.

I know I could just get a bigger Lodgesons remote control but like to keep those controls to a minium and beside it’s yet another near on £100 on top of what I already pay plus the AP.

I can never say never until I sit in Mk3 Tiguan but it’s not looking good for myself at the moment but that’s me and my disability.
