The only problem is that Ohme have now asked if I can have the charger can be fitted right next to the electricity meter, but the other side of the house door and car, which i do not want the cable passing over the path to my door. They are saying that the cable will need to run and be fitted externally round my doorway externally, when I thought they could run it through my loft as we are only talking about five meters apart. They also said that if it was situated at the electrical box, then there would be no extra charge (in a previous email), suggesting that if not, then there may be an extra charge although that was not suggested today on the phone.

Where is the logic in that?

The cable to the charger should go tight up under the eaves and drop down to the charger or at ground level or under the door cill, to where you want the charger. Putting it where they have suggested would create a trip hazard and who would be liable for that!

Either way it should not trigger a non standard install and/or additional cost by you….

You might need a non-standard installation if:

Your parking space is not directly next to your home

Your charging unit needs to be mounted on something other than your home, like a fence or a post

The cable route from your meter or unit is longer than 15 metres

The chargepoint provider needs to drill through more than one wall for the cable route

Your electrical equipment needs to be upgraded
