just ordered this after having an extended test drive of both the MG4 and the Megane e tech. The build quality of the Megane is far far far better then the MG4 when I test drove it I had a lot of issues with the car from the touch screen being unresponsive, climate control not accurate i.e not working unless it’s on maximum temperature, stupid camera on the steering wheel constantly telling you your not concentrating when your look straight ahead and the plastic sheet at the bottom of all cars not fitted properly causing wind noise and drag consistently. The Megane had none of that although not perfect the sound deading inside the car is amazing, when taking phone calls the call can’t even tell your in a car.
the reason I’m actually writing this is to let everyone know that you can haggle the AP (advance payment) of any motability car, I confirmed this with motability themselves who advised me paint and AP are at the dealer’s discretion they just can’t charge you more then what motability have agreed.
so for example one dealer might charger for a premium paint were another won’t which I had this issue when ordering my Megane.
I went on to motability’a website used there dealership search tool got a pen and paper and called everything single dealership asking them what there delivery time is and if they charged for paint and what there best price is on the AP, most dealers made out that the AP was mandatory, I politely told them that this is not true and I have confirmed this with motability and that it’s down to dealership discretion, most did not budge on the AP but I did get 2 to drop the AP but £100 which is better then nothing.
this is the best part one of the dealerships that refused to budge on price called me up the same day and offered me the car with a whopping £1000 off the AP and with the £750 for ordering a new car that took my AP to just £745 plus I’ll get £250 for my remaining good condition bounce so I’ve only paid £495 for the Megane e tech and got a charge point fitted at home.
between us I think there struggling to sell the Megane as they dropped the AP by half or more (correct me if I’m wrong) so if your looking for the car do what I did and even if you save £100 it’s better then nothing, they also gave me the colour I wanted and I’m picking the car up next week so no long wait times, a lot of the dealers tired to get me to factory order which I declined no point waiting months when you can get the car in a couple of days from another dealer.
the only negative is I had to travel 60 miles which I didn’t mind as I saved a huge amount.
