Hi Kezo. (Sorry I don’t know how to use quotes, reply directly etc).
I was thinking that if there is a clear benefit for mb and for us, then shouldn’t someone (?) be proposing it? When I joined mb my first car (Insignia) took about a month. Next was a six week wait for a cx5 and then six weeks again for a mini convertible (best car ever).
I have had the mini for five years now, due to a number of reasons out of my control. I finally managed to order an ec4 back in August last year. I have still not received it. The fact is that for their part, mb have been utterly brilliant with all of this mess, which involved amongst other things three cancellations and a grant approval. The insurance has been updated at least five times as far as I know. My gcb was paid out two years ago and the grant application process was swift.
Towards the end of my three year lease on the mini I was eagerly car-hunting. It was autumn 2021 and the choices were still not too bad. But when it was time to order, there was a worse choice and as we all know covid etc happened. The waiting lists got longer, and the choices got fewer. Not to mention the obscene advance payments being asked.
I’m not saying that it would have have made a difference to me then, but thinking about it, it would certainly make a difference now.
Suppose you’re three months to go, and you put in an order. You’re told four months wait. Mb says fine and they extend the lease. Then you’re told it will be another two months, and again mb extend. This goes on and on.
Or, suppose you can order a car with six months to go, much less mess.
Now, I have no idea how to deliver it, but I do believe this is a valid suggestion. I do not know what the relationship is between this forum and mb the charity and mb the company. But I did think it was worth “putting it out there”.
Thank you for you interest.
