We have an id3 tour and it’s been great but there not for everyone and although I’d say that my next car will be an ev who knows when we come to renew

If you want to do 70mph on the motorway then this impacts the range, personally I hate to see evs stuck behind trucks at 55 to get a decent range, the claimed range is 340 and on a good long run on the motorway it’s 280 in the summer and around 220 in the winter. We use the aircon and the heating

Around town and going back and forth to work etc in the summer we will see over 300 miles of range and in the winter typically less than 200 and in bad weather with lots of short journeys around 100 miles from a full charge

Charging at home couldn’t be easier and most of the time charging on the go is relatively easy but there is plenty of broken chargers and long queues and let’s be honest who’s waited an hour to put petrol in and 40 minutes to fill your tank to three quarters? Home charging at night is 8.25p per kWh for five hours so cheap and we have a wecharge card which is £9.99 a month so can use loads of charges at cheaper rates, ionity @ 28p and Rapid @ 35p so again good value but without this there is chargers at £1 per kWh which is ridiculous.

Evs are smooth and quite and I do enjoy mine but I’d say to anyone do your own research because they’re not perfect and I think the days of cheap electricity will soon be over unless you’ve got solar

Ours has covered almost 30000 miles and we have saved over £4000, the first third of this 99% of miles was free. The last third I bet 1% was free
