Hi all – after reading Jim’s advice on the Kona paddle breaking I thought I would have a search to see if I could find anything on smart recuperation in icy conditions – without much success – however I did come across this

Electric cars can perform much better than traditional cars in icy conditions. This is due to the design of electric cars in which the batteries are placed as low to the ground as possible to keep the centre of gravity low, this provides greater traction and handling capabilities in snow and ice.

(presumably the weight isn’t as useful on inclines!)

I found it to be one of those obvious things once read – but I confess it hadn’t occurred to me – the Kona has a reasonable ground clearance as well for a small car – where I live is about a 1/4 of a mile from a main road – so when we have snow of 4” or more – which is not often – the trickiest part is getting to the main road – which is usually well gritted and cleared quite quickly.
Being retired there is rarely any pressure to drive unless I want too.
Days of chains, chocks spades and winches with the landrover – when I would look for off road snow tracks are long gone – tho it was fun and the memories still make me ? ??
