The former Prime Minister Boris Johnson could be suspended from Parliament and even forced to face a by-election if he is found to have lied to Parliament.
The Privileges Committee is examining whether Mr Johnson committed a contempt of Parliament by misleading MPs over the partygate scandal last year. MPs voted in April for an investigation to be opened into the former PM.
