    So, if the car takes a year to turn up, they’ve had the use of your £1000 for a year. Are they going to pay you interest because you can be sure they are paying interest on the bank loan they use to finance their business?

    Erm, no, and why would they? Are they forcing anyone to pay the £1000? Don’t want to pay the deposit – walk. You know the conditions prior.

    And, yeah. I’m pretty sure that you can get them to pay you the whopping £25 you lost in savings over a year, if you’re persistent enough.

    We paid £1000 when ordered – we were asked to pay 50% of the value of the ordered optional extras. No deposit on the car/AP. And of course we did, since it’s perfectly reasonable. We also don’t intend to walk into the dealership and start hustling for the whopping £5 we’d have made in savings with NatWest.
