It really is no different from when I ordered my Tiguan early in 2018- it was a 36 week waiting time then, as many will remember. I was lucky as I was able to access a vehicle ‘on the way’ to the dealership, no real choice of colour etc, and had extras that maybe I would not have ordered, such as the hands free parking , but I had a car in a couple of weeks. I still have an ID4 on order, but I am told that they have stopped production, and I am currently looking around at other vehicles ,and will probably not have a VW this time, but I have not yet cancelled the order for the ID 4.
We placed a factory order for a Tiguan in early 2018 and it took 20 weeks from order to delivery. Not great, but four months less than the 36 weeks you were quoted. Mind you, 20 weeks, or even 36 weeks, in the current climate would be seen as very quick!
