But top end prices of almost £40k for a Kia???

It’s not 1985 anymore. In case you haven’t noticed. Not to mention that £38k for a fully equipped SUV that’s dripping in tech isn’t outlandish, not even close. It’s smack bang average. Do not worry, a somewhat comparably spec’d X1 (not that you can spec it to that level) is still quite a bit more expensive at £46k for a non-PHEV model. And that’s the current, old model that’s due a replacement in a few months, lets see where the prices go with the new one. I know you want to make it about “quality”, but Kia (and Hyundai, btw) aren’t far behind german premium manufacturers anymore, and in terms of reliability they’re ahead for years now. Get with the times.

Rene. I have a fair bit of experience of Hyundai’s. I have bought them for one of my daughters  and my best mate has a current model top of the range Santa Fe which I travel in regularly. As you rightly say, on an equipment basis they are incredibly well equipped as standard, far more so than any BMW. However, I don’t feel that the quality of materials, engine refinement, multimedia systems etc etc are in the same ball park. Not even remotely. That’s why they are a lot cheaper, as you get what you pay for. But that’s just my opinion, which I am entitled to.

I have taken to ignoring your posts, but will make one final exception as I would like to say something to you. I am clearly not the only person on this forum to have noticed that the tone of many of your posts is unacceptable. You are coming across as a very angry person and seem unable to make a point without being extremely aggressive. I am not just referring to your latest comments to me but others that you have made to me and other members in recent weeks. This is a discussion forum. We don’t all have to agree with each other and often don’t. Having different views and opinions is fine. However, nobody likes a bully and when someone has to resort to insults they have always lost the argument. Could I respectfully ask you to reflect on this and moderate the tone of your future posts. Thank you.
