    Ive noticed that some cars are released but have the caveat “not in the UK” or the “USA”. Im sure there’s a sound reason for this but when VW spend £Millions on say the ID3 and then add “not in the USA” it doesn’t really make sense to me. Hopefully someone has the answer or can at least give some ideas as to why.

    With regards to the ID3 in particular, I understand that it was designed and engineered mainly for Europe due to forthcoming legislation in which to end sales of non zero carbon emission vehicles in certain countries.

    Homologation in the U.S would result in the ID3 being heavier and more expensive than the Golf – the US is typically a value-focused market. As such, sales probably wouldn’t be justified. I did read somewhere that EV sales only accounted for 2% of total car sales last year and I understand in wider America, the EV infrastructure is poor. Not to mention, America’s love for crossovers and SUVs is never ending. The ID4 is sold over there and is receiving great reviews.
