Yes an OT was involved, they won’t do the works due to the build of the house (prefab), the presence of Asbestos and the potential for a complaining neighbour who could have derailed the adaptation. I maybe made the mistake of not claiming anything or trying for any adaptations until I was well into being a wheelchair user (I had already been a wheelchair user for 5 years when I put in my first PIP claim) and not while the deterioration was majorly occurring.

The works planned was for converting my bathroom and toilet into a wheelchair accessible wet room with a wet/dry toilet, widened doorways, stair lift, a widened and automatic front door and a wheelchair ramp to the front door. Widening the door external doorway was not possible due to the framework of the house, knocking through the bathroom and toilet and putting in the toilet was not possible due to the asbestos soil pipe and the front wheelchair ramp not advised due to the potential official complaining neighbour.

I’d already chosen the stairlift, everything had been passed as ok and then on the very last visit when they were going to give me a build date, the asbestos soil pipe was discovered. This and the other workarounds that had already been worked out due to it being a prefab, pushed the cost over the allowed amount and it was all cancelled due to it being uneconomical to adapt.
