The main reason why they won’t do this is because Motability gets full VAT exemption on vehicle purchases, but this only applies to brand new cars at the point of first registration.
Quite correct, Glos Guy. However, these are extraordinary times so wouldn’t it be appropriate to take “extraordinary” measures to solve the extraordinary problems? Would it REALLY be so terribly world-shattering to change the VAT regulations for Motability leasing? What’s more, since the organisation is thirsty to get more customers, the same extraordinary changes could make the scheme available to those on the lower rate PIP or DLA if they are prepared to fork out their own money for the service. I really, really cannot believe that Motability has not done this.
