Yep ? It’s becoming more common in the EV world, Elon is a services guy and capitalising on things like road sign detection, media centre add ins like CarPlay/android auto, adaptive headlights will likely become the new normal.
I think the days of ‘having what you have’ are numbered, services will be as normal as changing your mobile phone data plan or Streaming services. Would you prefer things to be that way? For example, winter pack, would a fee of £20 per month in the colder months be more or less palatable than the £400 extra as an option when purchasing?
You can of course apply that example to most options on a vehicle, it simplifies manufacturing having fewer production lines, and from a consumer standpoint gets you the features you want for the time you want them.
