Tethered means the charger has lead attached.
Untethered you need to attach your own lead.
I recommend tethered simply because its easier especially when its raining….
Faffing about getting leads out of car and putting them away again after charge is a pain when you can pull up next to a tethered charger plug in walk away in less than a minute……
