Prince Philip gave support to the Queen for three quarters of a century. He served publicly as an advocate of youth opportunity and development and wasn’t afraid to speak his mind even if some of his ‘off camera’ comments did reveal some old fashioned attitudes. He was a good man who had to live his life in the full glare of publicity.
1921-2021 is a good long innings and he remained fit and healthy until the last few years. I’m not mourning him, I’m celebrating the fact that someone who has always been there through my 72 years had a good life and is now free from suffering.
His title of “Duke of Edinburgh” will now pass to his youngest son Prince Edward and it will be in very safe hands.
RIP Philip.
