In lou’s case she has ordered extra’s which is between her and the dealer but in a case where you just order a car with no extra’s the dealer should be able to cancel the order and then re-order. The only issue i can see is if they have got the car and have registered it for handover.
My last car was a golf mk7 from vertu vw and i could not get another golf as the mk8 was not available and no stock cars was available from the outgoing mk7.5’s
The dealer did offer me £250 off any vw as with the 1st car i got and not once did he say i need to spk to germany to get permission.(it’s the dealers choice to offer a delaer contribution)
So i thinks thats a stalling tactic.
The dealership has ordered the car and i don’t see why if they cancel the order with Mb and then re-order it has anything to do with the actual factory order only the order with mobility needs to be processed again at the new ap. Pure waffle imo..
Thats why i said just ask the dealer as i knew mb would say the price you pay is what the ap was at the time of ordering. They protect you from rises in the next 1/4 but in the case of a drop they do not.
so you need to cancel / re-order as mbo agree a price every 3 months with vw and the dealer is just a broker that handles the deal on behalf of mb and vw and get’s a fee for doing so. So why would germany agree to give £599 profit away (that they’d then give to mb) if you re-order at the new price that’s not the case… makes no sense at all to me that.. Often delares buy cars in bulk and can offer deals( to meet targets etc) not many deals about right now on ap’s. due to the situation i guess. but £599 is alot.
Which is why you need to cancel the order and re-order and the dealer does that.. Then it makes no difference with germany at all as the ap this 1/4 is only £400 and imo the two orders are not linked. So they’d have to cancel the factory order separately. Maybe they think you will not re-order and then they will be stuck with the car.
