Less and less places are accessable with a car these days and i see in 3 years it being even worse.
All cars cause congestion regardless of the fuel used to move it and we all will be priced off the road.
Right now Area’s are being closed to all cars, including us with blue badges. Cars being forced to go the longway around is causing gridlock, which they are creating with policy. So crazy but it’s always that way.
They create the chaos so then they can offer more solutions.
Alot of people near me must be working from home or lost their jobs as the morning school run is a breeze, not the usual jam at the end of my street to get onto the main road which leads into town and not many more riding bikes or walking at all.. It’s like it’s christmas day everyday and no one is about..
I lease on the scheme as i need piece of mind and alot of my driving is on motorway, Smart motorway the ones without a hard shoulder and 1 mile to the sos and not many overhead signs. So reliabilty is still key and those hidden costs of running a secondhand car mount up, the longer you keep it or the more you drive it. The more it will cost you. You could buy a car but for me and others would i get credit and unless it was 0% I would’nt use it.
I am on a low income, due to my disabilities i cannot work. So I guess the next car in just under 3 years, I will be asking for a grant. As i also need an automatic and we all know they gonna cost more and go wrong more than a manual.
Now on my 4th car on the scheme and my last one cost me after deducting the gcb £799 divide by 36 mnths is £22.19 a month. I can afford that. Anything more is just wasting money, imo as after 3 years i do not intend to buy the car and you wont get the Ap back.
So far i have got what i need in a car on the scheme for under £800 from my pocket and sometimes something has to give you cannot have everything if you want a lower AP.
Cars are getting more and more stuff on them, Technology and R&D costs a huge amount.
I did think about it (leaving the scheme) while getting my last car the honda civic. but at the end of the day it has everything i need but is very low, but then again all cars hurt me to get into and out off, but the benefits when in it are better than a higher car, for me anyway. Deffo a tuff one and is alot to consider.
In 3 years alot can change. Maybe the scheme won’t even be around. Who knows all we can do is live in the now and i know the hassle free driving of the scheme is the big bonus to it and over the last 9 years Not having to worry about the car has made my life a huge amount less stressfull. As it was a constant worry.
