    They could speed up new applications by allowing us to lease nearly new cars. There are a number of cars on dealer forecourts with less than 1000 miles lots less than 50 miles. It is exceptional circumstances after all.

    I don’t somehow think the dealers would want to jeopardise their overall new car sales (in which Motability cars are often counted) which affects both the costs of vehicles supplied from manufacturers and sales bonuses.

    Then with the current reluctance of people to travel on public transport, there could well be private buyers looking for  ‘nearly new’ cars which they can get relatively quickly for reliable travel to/from work when things ease in the next few weeks.

    Even when the new Motability prices are released, it could still be a case of those on extended contracts only for a period of time, before others due to change but haven’t had their contract extended and maybe last of all new scheme customers.

    So, it could be still quite a while before people can order on the scheme. Then of course there could still be delays whilst manufacturers get fully upto speed with production and decease any backlog.
