Unfortunately, joss, and from my experience, the Specialist can only ask the GP, not instruct him/her. My daughter’s GP for two years denied her specialists advice re her gall bladder, and the problem was only resolved when she presented at A&E and had an immediate operation.
Needless to say she then changed her GP, which previously she had been reluctant to do, despite pleading from the test of the family.
