I started off never having done any diy, but no money and a willingness to learn encouraged me to take on most diy projects.
The last major one, a couple of years ago sort of put me off diying. New bathroom, thought I could take the wall tiles off and then re-tile ended up removing all the gyproc and replacing it, lifting the floor, repairing cracks in the wall, plastering the ceiling, put in a new window before re-tiling walls and floor, fitting a new door and gluing a large mirror, the width of the wall. Put me off for a while.
