My favourite holiday destination is Mallorca. It’s such a beautiful island and fully accessible with the use of a hire car. We keep going back to the first hotel we stayed at in the early 70’s, it’s set in an idyllic small cove called Cala egos near to Cala Mondrago which is my idea of paradise.
Another favourite destination is Cyprus, Nissi beach, just outside Ayia Napa. We go there in October while it’s still lovely and hot, but the teeming crowds have gone home. We stay in an hotel opposite the beach and the sea there is so warm and shallow that you can sit in it for hours in the middle of amazing beauty.
We used to go to the Caribbean, and Mexico etc, but I can’t manage long flights now. Even Cyprus and the Canaries are too long a flight for me at the moment.
I don’t have to worry about the logistics of holiday planning right now, as my back garden is having to substitute for going away. It’s actually too hot today to sit in full sun, so I’m using the shady part of the garden. It’s still at least four hours until I can raise a cocktail glass to you guys and gals out there. I’ll say ‘cheers’ to you all later!
