I’ve been bleating on about this for a couple of years now. (I should be in a government think tank ?).
The current thinking of EV car charging is outdated but the longer it’s pursued, with cash invested, it will be irreversible.
Wireless charging is a great idea and could even be expanded on. By this I mean that a network/infrastructure could put in the road network whereby we charge/pay on the go. Yes it would be a gargantuan change but with brave new changes must come brave new thinking. And it’s possible, we already have the technology!
Another method would be common, changeable batteries. You drive in to a fuel station and the batteries are swapped out for fully charged ones. Again , it is possible. It ‘just’ needs more forward thinking from car manufacturers/governments.
The method we are being sold into is a sticking plaster, in my humble opinion.
