Alternatively you could put it up for tender, every ten years, such as the railways and still it would be Motability the charity, but the car leasing run by, for instance Motability Cars as opposed to Motability Operations, but still keeping a monopoly so that they could still have the power to negotiate the best prices and car selection as a very large part of the motor trade. It should be run on the same bases as a charity with low profits and a good value competitive wage bill.

How you decide whether they have done well, is another matter, I suppose it can only be judged by how happy the Motability Charity customer has been with the deals and selection that Motabilty Operations/Cars/Whoever, has negotiated and made available. Another consideration is that someone (possibly Motability the Charity) monitors the profits they are allowed to amass and rate of wages that they are allowed to pay themselves.

Remembering (as I do as a Motability customer for 35 years) that up to a few years back, we had a greater selection of makes and models at various AP’s until Motability Operations considered (not the Car Makers) that the views of the Daily Mail and it’s readers was more important than the views and needs of the Motability customers who’s needs they were set up to provide for.

As always, only a point of view and not any more or less right or important that anyone else.
