Polarised glasses will block a normal (reflecting off of the windscreen) HUD. No ifs, or buts.
It might be my HUD adjustment, as I understand Hyundai group HUD is designed to be polarized at approximately 70 degrees off the horizontal. Looking at the HUD is definately darker, but can clearly be seen. I wouldn’t blame my Serengeti glaases, as they specialise in advanced lens tech compared to others, problem is I will need to wear goggles for driving soon and those who deal with them, script lens cost more than Transitions oh well! https://www.sunglassscience.com/post/serengeti-drivers-polarized-sunglasses-lens-review BMW apparently make polarised sunglasses that can see the HUD with a special coating. Not sure if available here though, as it’s something I read a review about a while back.
I do know which glasses you referring to – BMW Vi/ON. They’re the same as your glasses. It’s not a special coating, it’s that they’re not horizontally polarised, they’re 90 degrees out. I obviously don’t know if yours are exactly 90 degrees out, but the principle is the same.
If i remember (stressful day tomorrow), i’ll check the polarisation with my CPL filter. I’d put money on horizontally, but i may be wrong entirely, haven’t checked yet.
