Just had an interesting evening looking at the early viewing of these two new KIAs.

The EV4 is a hatchback looking rather EV6 like from the front with either a standard hatchback or fast back more like the EV6 boot.

It’s a spacious car with a length not dissimilar to the EV3.

The EV5 is a SUV looking like an EV9 has been in the wrong wash.

Both cars on show were full of tech but I can guarantee they were both GTLineS models.

      Pictures to follow.

Considering the moon prices they charge for both EV3 and EV6, they can keep the 4 and 5.

Prior: SEAT Ateca Xcellence Lux 1.5 TSI DSG MY19, VW Golf GTE PHEV DSG MY23
        Current: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Ultimate

I did ask the KIA guys what they thought about plans for the scheme and they were adamant that everything but the EV9 will be on scheme but not until next spring/summer.  Given how much the upper models of the EV3 are, I can’t see there being space for the upper models for these two before you’re at EV6 silly money.

I resisted the urge to ask why KIA thought they were worth so much to Motability customers, given you can get a fully specced Enyaq for £3,500 and the Ford Explorer for even less.  Even comparing to the Hyundai offerings they’re just expensive.

I can’t say that these cars were built to a point where I could compare them to the Mercedes or BMWs but that’s where they’re priced.

If I don’t want a job, I over price it an if I get the job it’s more than worth it. In a similar way Kia are probably shifting enough cars away from the scheme and so arn’t bothered, but have them on the scheme at silly money incase someone is willy to pay. In the real world, there’s little difference between Hyundai/Kia mainstream cars with circa £1k seperating them at most. Genesis is Hyundai groups luxury off shoot and suspect what AP’s Kia are charging, would be similar to what Genesis would charge, if on the scheme. SAIC’s IM series and some of the better Chinese cars coming through, will shake the established brands up!

I was talking with another Scheme member last evening and he was searching through the options.  I mentioned the IM range and he was rather quickly interested.  I can see either Performance model coming on scheme but I also don’t expect that many will be sold anyway, I’ve heard so many times of Tesla drivers not getting out of the eco settings as the car gets somewhat hairy.  The range and performance of the single motor 100kWh is plenty, whether you’re seeking a hatchback or something taller.  I also saw the IM6 had a monitor that drops down behind the drivers seat level, I really can see families loving the in journey entertainment as long as it works properly.

Had a 2007 Yamaha R1, now that was what I call hairy! Sold it in 2011 when youngest was one just incase😂 though I kept my YZ450F (motorcross), as I’d raced since the age of 9 🙂

dont know if its me but i always find that Kia cars look a lot nicer on the outside than the inside.  some of those switchbacks in the doors and centre console look like 15 year old technology, i know they say if its not broken dont fix it but it like a time capsule inside.
