After visiting a friend in Glasgow Royal Infirmary me and my wife happened to pass an Arnold Clark Hyundai dealership and went in for a look at the Ioniq 6. The salesman “James Macmillan” had a chat with us and told me that they were discounting the car by £250 and that a V2L charger comes free with the car, that was good enough for me lol.
My wife really likes the car but i thought it would be too low for her but she had a go getting in and out and was happy enough that she ordered one in black with grey interior.
Its getting delivered next week, gulp, and ive only a granny charger, at this point, so that could be interesting. Hopefully Motability can sort me out quickly with an EV charger.
Its an absolute bargain but of course its got to be right for you, but if your looking for an EV that has virtually everything then this could be the answer. The cars design is a bit Marmite but both me and the wife really like it.
The dealership address is:- 345 Alexander Parade, Glasgow G31 3AD
James direct line number is 0141 422 2780
The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.

Very nice. Black does suit the car.
Granny chargers aren’t that bad, just keep topped up when you can.

July 15, 2025 at 3:46 pm #309622By far the worst dealership I’ve had the misfortune of using.
James and the service staff are beyond hopeless.
You’ll be happy with the car though loads of kit as standard.
Might be worth signing up for the Tesla subscription until you get your home install. There’s an open to all charging station just up from the Douglas Park BMW.
July 15, 2025 at 4:04 pm #309625Congrats mate!
Ultimate or N Line S?
You’ll beable to have your meat and two veg cooled, as you drive along – well at least when the weather is warm 😂
Hopefully BumbleBee will be the installer and you will be able to spec the likes of Zappi for a charger, which is both solar and intelligent capable. Might be worth letting Motability now you have solar, if only to get a better charger!
July 15, 2025 at 4:20 pm #309626Nice car and a good price just now.
Skoda Enyaq Race Blue
July 15, 2025 at 4:40 pm #309632Congratulations. It’s a hell of a lot of car for a very modest AP. Welcome to the world of Hyundai ownership. I hope that you and your wife like bings and bongs? The only thing in our village that bings and bongs more than our Hyundai is the ice cream van 😂
July 15, 2025 at 5:40 pm #309640@kezo it’s the Ultimate trim she picked. Unfortunately it’s ohme who is in charge of the install so we have a choice of the two ohme units.
@Fastbike1000 I agree it looks great in black however the wife very nearly went for matte grey until she noticed the finger prints around the door handle.
@kamkam I have a “Granny charger” so I can manage with that in the meantime. I am not long off the phone to ohme who told me waiting times in my area are two to three weeks so could possibly put off picking up the car until it’s fitted.@Glos Guy I took it for a test drive last week at a different dealership and the bings and bongs were irritating but hopefully they can be switched off or at least limited.
We’ve had a few SUV in recent years and it did feel strange being so low in comparison but I’m sure i will get used to it again.
The wife is the motability customer and she picked it but it has absolutely everything I would look for in an EV.

I would question Mobility and ask if you can have a solar capable charger (it not unheard of).
You can turn the daft speed awareness and lane assist off at the steering wheel every time you drive off the driveway. I do it when pulling off drive!
Thes afety volume can be turned down to zero, but it’s still audible.
July 15, 2025 at 6:13 pm #309643Luckily, that’s really the only known issue – the overzealous bings and bongs.
Can be rectified by turning them off every time, bit annoying but not the end of the world. We’d have gone for one too, sadly too large for our bay (bumper would sit on the sidewalk and our street has dozens of toddlers on push bikes), and it was too low for the lady.
Cracking car though.

Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.July 15, 2025 at 6:28 pm #309644@kezo the ohme agent said both chargers are solar compatible. I haven’t checked but will later on. As you know I have loads of solar panels so I wanted clarification from them. The motability agent also said they were solar compatible.
@Rene I was worried about the height but the wife found it to be ok. Of course we don’t know what the future holds but as of today it’s fine lol.The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.July 15, 2025 at 7:21 pm #309647I ordered a Metalic red with grey interior in October 2023 with an AP of £4,500 ( – £750 NCD and – £900 as it should have been on GCB)(and thought that was a great value deal for a stunning looking car that came with everything that I needed, at that time. The car came in December and was being fitted with hand controls. Unfortunately in January 24 before I could pick it up , I took a bad stroke and a seizure, end of that plan. It took months for it to be cancelled by the garage and Motability.
But in June 24 the dealer Parks of East Kilbride phoned and offered me one or possibly my order for no AP, but unfortunately that shipped had sailed and no point asking which. But I would have loved the car. Great deal Brydo, enjoy your car.

July 15, 2025 at 7:40 pm #309648Just checked -Ohme have introduced Solar Boost from early January 2023, but there are posts on here suggesting it wasn’t up and running at the end of the year and probably happened in 2024. Still wont be installing them, but you can’t look a gift hore in it’s mouth!

@kezo Where do I find a gift hore? They all charge around here 🤣July 15, 2025 at 7:58 pm #309653Thanks Kezo, I ended up with a Skoda Superb estate and a person hoist, but no more driving after 48 years of driving. At least better than a WAV,IMO. But would still have loved an Ioniq 6.

Simple mistakes eh!

Nice car is the Superb, we had the 5 door versin in 2017.
All the best going forward.
July 15, 2025 at 11:59 pm #309668@Brydo congratulations, I love mines 🩶 it was a year old on the 11th and I’d order the same again if it’s still available in ’27 🤞
Although I got mines from Gateshead (deal on at the time) it is Ally Parade I took it to for servicing and so far I’m 50/50 on them… had an issue with garage, not the car that I’m waiting to get rectified and how/when it gets handled will decide if I go back happy or slag them off and put in a complaint to Motability 🤔. As for charging with the granny it’d be better if you use a dedicated outdoor 3pin socket or take out a 1 month subscription to Ionity or Tesla (which ever is closest) until your home charger is installed.
@Callmejohn sorry to hear about your stroke, hope your doing better now 🤞 I did wonder what had happened to you as I was interested to find out about your hand controls while I was waiting on mines coming. Take careJuly 16, 2025 at 12:09 am #309669I don’t know which electric tariff you’re on, but worth pointing out that if you’re with Octopus on their Intelligent Go tariff, you get 8% off of many chargers (including Ionity and Gridserve) – as in, at literally every supported bay. The only big one missing is Tesla.
No subscription needed either, you just have to charge through their app (Octopus Electroverse). You can, and i only recently learned that, charge and pay through your electricity bill, which i find awesome.
Just throwing that out there.

Yes get the Electroverse app and order their card too but a Tesla or Ionity subscription (I’ve got both) usually works out cheaper
July 17, 2025 at 3:31 pm #309773Just received an email from “Bumblebee” saying they will be in touch with me within the next three days with a link to the home survey they require before fitting the charger.
They have given me three chargers to choose from namely
1:waEV-charge
2:Hypervolt Home Pro 3
3:MyEnergi Zappi V2
Strangely I received a similar email from Ohme saying the same thing but with the two Ohme chargers.
After a quick look it would seem it’s a straight choice between option 2 and 3, with option 3 the favourite.
Both are solar comparable so either would do.
Has anyone any experience of either if the two choices?
I am hoping the Bumblebee email isn’t an error as I would prefer the choice they are giving me.

Hope you get the charger you want 👍
July 17, 2025 at 4:04 pm #309776@Tillyman thanks for the good wishes. It is a bit low for the wife but she’s not in the car very often now and she loves the look of it.

I mentioned Bumblebee because they seem to be the ones covering Scotland, which is a bonus!
Either of the last two will good – Hpervolt is modern & sleek looking and can connect to intelligent tariffs, as can Zappi, which may have slight edge on solar intergratio however, there are some reports Zappi can overheat on south facing walls presenting comms issue, though Ive never seen that with the ones Ive fitted. Go with Zappi V2 but ensure it version 2.3 for intelligent tariff connectivity.
July 17, 2025 at 9:36 pm #309783Hi @Brydo. I’m sure that Bumble Bee is Arnold Clark’s supplier of electricity connectors with Ohme being the company that Motability use.
July 17, 2025 at 10:34 pm #309784@Carmad that’s correct, the salesman mentioned that when we were speaking to him. As I’ve been contacted by Ohme and Bumblebee I’ve no idea who I will end up with hopefully Bumblebee🤞
@Kezo if I get to choose I will be going for the Zappi and I will make sure its version 2.3 for intelligent tariff connectivity. It will be positioned on a north west or north-facing wall so shouldn’t have any overheating problems. The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
